Anklets and Toe Rings

The anklet is a jewel in gold, silver or other precious metal or semiprecious typically worn by belly dancers at the ankles, hence given the name.

It looks like various bracelets, however it is often in Moorish style or otherwise as to invoke the Middle Eastern origin.

The purpose of bringing a trinket ankles during the belly dancer is to produce a distinctive sound that accompanies the movements of the dancer (although not all dancers wear the anklet during that dance).

According to wholesaleably, there is the frequent use of the brace beyond the practice of belly dancing, as feminine accessory, especially in summer, which enhances the tan legs and feet. In this case the anklet has no rattles, but is worn for its sheer aesthetic function, to be regarded as analogous to that of the most common bracelets.
