According to cyclingenthusiasm.com, the cycling secession had almost nine minutes when the distance down to the peloton was at most. It proved to be too much. The peloton failed to retrieve tättrion. Rosselers bad legs was blown away when he sprinted home victory before Thomas De Gendt (Topsport Vlaanderen-Mercator) and Jurgen Vandewalle (Quick Step).

“I did my part of the work the whole day and I had such bad leg on the morning after the start so this is incredible,” said Sebastien Rosseler.

It was the Belgian’s second victory of the season. He won his first in February at the Volta ao Algarve fourth stage after a solo run.
