Creative ZiiSound D5x in the Test

Creative is actually in the home PC segment, but also audio products. Can the cradle ZiiSound D5x in the test convince?

Often looking somewhat skeptical on loudspeakers from manufacturers that actually reside in the PC world. Try these companies get an as pompous look with much plastic and pay no attention to the sound quality – this is at least the widespread prejudice.

Bluetooth instead of airplay

To avoid the licensing fees from Apple, uses the graceful sound bars No airplay, but the traditional Bluetooth protocol – a WI Fi network is thus not necessary. The supplied Apple adapter allows iPhone, iPod and even iPad to stream with the new aptX Standart.

The dongle is not absolutely necessary for the operation but – Creative Dock, also the usual Bluetooth sirens as players come into question. Alternatively is the D5x thanks to AUX input analog signals for wireless transmission. The centrally positioned Control Panel is a touch panel: volume and Setup are therefore controlled at your fingertips.

Who wants more, can additional ZiiSound-modules in use: either two D5x cooperate with matching subwoofer (DSx) as 2.1 system – or to use up to three docks to fill several rooms at the same time. But even with a D5x it sounded rich in detail, vivid and opaque. Also was impressed by the huge reserves of the level and the deep down bass.
