Facebook Experiment Allows Users to Pay to Send Messages to You

The Facebook is always testing new ways to make money. Proof of this is the great controversy that originated the change of terms of service Instagram. Today a new medium being tested. And it is considerably more intrusive: Facebook can give users the option of paying to send messages to you.

Currently, when a user sends a message to someone that it is not connected or no friend, the message goes to the “other” folder. In that folder, not always the message is seen. In the experiment of Facebook, the social network gives the option that user pay $ 1 to send a direct message to the inbox.

What does that mean? Basically, that spam is not only authorized as will yield money to Facebook. A person who you have never seen in life can send a direct message to your inbox without you having to do anything about it.

Furthermore, Facebook is also testing new filters that separate messages. A filter allows you to receive messages from all friends and friends of friends, and the other shows messages only from friends. And these improvements are really helpful.

Of course, there will be some form of spam detection that should realize a user to send multiple identical messages to others. But I think it will take until it becomes really efficient.

Fortunately it’s just an experiment for now: only a certain group of users is testing the feature. If successful, the function will be implemented across the social network. I sincerely hope he fails.
