Learn what makes the fruit so important in their diet and what are the quantities advised by the experts.
A lot of talk of the benefits of fruit for health and of the importance to include in the feed.
But why? And in what quantities? It is about this that now you are talking about.
WHY SHOULD WE CONSUME FRUIT?
A healthy diet is a varied diet. And in this variety, the fruit is not missing. In fact, there are several studies that indicate that fruit should be around 20% of the daily diet.
There are many speculations with regard to the time of day in which you must ingest the fruit. Before, during or after meals, only in the morning or at night is not… The suggestions are varied. In fact, the intake of fruit can be made any time of the day, just choose the time that you know better. However, you should take into account the arguments to the intake before or after meals:
BEFORE THE MEAL
The fruit consists of fiber which slows the absorption of fat. That said, the fruit could be a good ally at this point. However, the ingestion of soup or a salad before moving on to the main meal can be a way to get this fiber, not being necessarily required intake of fruit before a meal so that you can decrease the absorption of fat.
AFTER THE MEAL
Eating fruit after a meal has the great advantage of being able to act as a dessert. The sweet character of the fruit can be a comfort from a sensory point of view that many people seek at the end of the meal.
In addition, fruits rich in vitamin C like orange, kiwi or strawberry may facilitate the absorption of iron of vegetable origin (beans, peas, lentils, etc…).
WHAT IS THE RECOMMENDED DAILY DOSE OF FRUIT?
Referred to at the beginning that certain studies indicate that the fruit must represent about 20% of the daily diet. A number that reveals that, although the fruit is healthy and beneficial to health, this does not mean that you should consume without restrictions.
Experts recommend eating three to five servings of fruits and vegetables per day (400 grams), however, this amount can vary from person to person, according to sex, weight, age and physical activity practiced (or not).
It is certain that the excessive consumption of fruit is less harmful to health than excess of other food groups (like fats, for example), but there is still some care you should have. Remember that fruit contains sugar (fructose) rapid absorption that can cause a rapid increase in the level of glucose in the blood.
WHAT IS A SERVING OF FRUIT?
A dose of fruit corresponds to a piece of fruit of medium size with about 160 grams.
If you already know that fruit is good and if you know what the quantities indicated, what are you waiting for to eat the fruit?! You can consume your fruit of choice plain or incorporate them in your meals (such as salads, for example), use them in desserts or make them into smoothies. You just have to choose!
