Advanced Negotiations and Dispute Resolution

This course builds upon the foundation set down in the W505 Course. It examines the remaining key topics necessary to bring mastery of the negotiations/conflict management skills et to the next level. The course subject matter centers on strategy and the wise exercise of power; framing and planning; dealing with difficult people and intractable disputes; multiparty, complex disputes; negotiating as and through an agent; gender issues; cross cultural and international business negotiations; organizing for effective negotiation and conflict management; and alternative dispute resolution processes.

MBA/JD Degree

Many business schools offer an integrated Juris Doctor (JD) MBA program. The JD-MBA gives students a thorough grounding in both management and law. Their multidisciplinary education prepares JD-MBA students to address the many legal and business issues that they will face in their roles within legal practice, public governance, consulting, investment banking, entrepreneurship, venture capital and other careers.

The JD-MBA program is an accelerated course of study. The core curriculum is complemented with elective course work in such areas as finance, entrepreneurship, international business law, real estate law and tax law. Both degrees are awarded upon completion of managerial courses and law course work.

In general, students complete the program in three years, rather than the five years that it would take to finish the two degrees separately.

Online MBA Degree

If you are a busy professional, with work, family, and a host of other commitments, online study offers you an opportunity for educational advancement on your own schedule and at your own pace. You can study, participate in class discussions, and submit assignments day or night, weekday or weekend, at your convenience.

Rather than travel to a fixed location—campus or learning center—you can access classes from home, workplace, or anywhere you have an Internet connection. In addition, you will benefit from learning through the same current technologies that you encounter in the workplace. You will also benefit from the “level playing field” that gives every online student an equal opportunity to participate and receive individualized attention from your professors.

Paradoxically, as an online student you will get to know your instructors and other students better than the typical student who battles traffic and parking to get to class on time and hurries home afterwards to meet his or her other obligations. Separate communications channels for student-to-instructor, student-to-student, team members, and classmates as a group give you regular interaction with whomever you choose in as confidential a setting as you wish. A growing body of evidence points to the conclusion that you are likely to learn more in the active learning environment of online classes than in the frequently passive environment of a lecture hall or classroom.

Online education is cost-effective. Though tuition may be marginally higher than campus tuition, the gains in personal and work time more than offset this difference.
