Managing a Client Engagement

The purpose of this course is to develop or hone the basic skills, professional standards, and analytical capabilities that are required for managing consulting projects. These skills are applicable to several other client oriented service professions and internal consulting within a corporation. Some areas we explore include:

·Understanding the ‘scientific method’ (i.e., hypothesis generation testing and hypothesis reformulation) as a paradigm for consulting interventions

·Applying the ‘scientific method’ during a simulated or live client engagement

·Using virtual teams as an organizing framework for structuring and leading field-based organizational interventions

·Focusing on successful client management skills

·Managing the project through various challenges and stages

·Establishing metrics for assessing the success of a client engagement

·Developing effective client oriented presentation skills
