LDI Assessment Program 1: Assessor Training & Development
The major focus of this course is to teach a select cadre of MBA students how to assess the leadership skills and abilities of peer students and to provide these assessees with feedback designed to improve their leadership effectiveness. In order to accomplish this, you will be taught how to conduct a variety of assessment center activities including:
- Conducting “role playing” exercises
- Performing behavioral observation and recording
- Learning how to develop consensus ratings
- Creating Developmental Feedback Reports
- Facilitating developmental feedback meetings
Traditionally, assessment centers are used for three purposes in organizational settings:
- to identify who should be promoted or selected into management (or other) positions;
- to diagnose the training and developmental needs of individuals;
- for skill development purposes.
In this class, the focus will be on the latter two of these three issues. Indeed, the main goals of this assessment process are to:
- identify the leadership strengths and weaknesses of our incoming MBA students,
- and provide them with feedback and developmental opportunities to enhance their leadership skills and abilities while in the program.
