Legal Issues in HRM: Health, Family, and Privacy

An increasing amount of an organization’s time and resources is being devoted to health, safety, and family issues. Legal considerations are a primary force in shaping approaches, and new laws, such as the Family and Medical Leave Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act, present ever-changing challenges for managers. In addition, management of these issues must be accomplished within the context of a growing legal recognition of a right to employee privacy. This course examines the statutory laws pertaining to these areas and the courts’ and agencies’ interpretation and application of them.

Students completing this course will:
