Organizational Development and Change: The Change Agent
Organizational Development (OD) is enacted through small, gradual interventions to enhance individual, team, and organizational performance. This class focuses on individual, “bottom-up” change initiatives that are the heart of OD. Students will learn to diagnose existing levels of organizational performance, design interventions to enhance that performance, and evaluate the results of their interventions. At the end of the class, they will have a personal, integrative model of organization change that is immediately useful in the context of their personal, professional, and organizational situations. Specific topics include:
- Realizing the presence and importance of Organizational Development (OD)
- Understanding and managing the change process
- Diagnosing and overcoming resistance to change
- Recognizing how your attitude and actions affect others, and learning how to model change effectively
- Choosing the right intervention strategy to accomplish your objectives
